{"id":7532,"date":"2024-09-24T16:09:39","date_gmt":"2024-09-24T20:09:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seci.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=7532"},"modified":"2024-09-24T16:09:43","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T20:09:43","slug":"still-an-enforcement-focus-more-attempts-to-limit-whistleblower-protections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seciblog.pli.edu\/index.php\/still-an-enforcement-focus-more-attempts-to-limit-whistleblower-protections\/","title":{"rendered":"Still an Enforcement Focus \u2013 More Attempts to Limit Whistleblower Protections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On September 9, 2024, the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2024-118\">announced<\/a> settled charges against seven companies for attempting to limit whistleblower rights through provisions in employment, separation and other agreements.\u00a0 As you can read in the SEC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2024-118\">Press Release<\/a> and the related Orders, one \u00a0company tried to force employees to waive their right to whistleblower awards such as those the SEC pays to qualified whistleblowers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This case is the latest in a litany of recent enforcement actions, including against <a href=\"https:\/\/seciblog.pli.edu\/a-different-twist-in-whistleblower-protection-enforcement\/\">J.P. Morgan<\/a> for attempting to limit customers\u2019 ability to blow the whistle and against <a href=\"https:\/\/seciblog.pli.edu\/yet-one-more-violation-of-whistleblower-protection-rules\/\">D.E. Shaw and Co.
