{"id":1325,"date":"2018-08-21T11:49:42","date_gmt":"2018-08-21T15:49:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/seci.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2018-08-21T11:49:42","modified_gmt":"2018-08-21T15:49:42","slug":"are-you-ready-to-be-simplified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/seciblog.pli.edu\/index.php\/are-you-ready-to-be-simplified\/","title":{"rendered":"Are You Ready to be Simplified?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On August 17, 2018, the SEC approved a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/rules\/final\/2018\/33-10532.pdf\">314-page Final Rule<\/a><\/strong>to implement many parts of their disclosure effectiveness and simplification initiatives.\u00a0 Included in the many changes made by the rule are updates to:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Regulation S-X<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Regulation S-K<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The instructions to the Forms<\/p>\n<p>The changes focus on:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Removing redundant and duplicative requirements that are substantially similar to disclosures required by GAAP, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), or other Commission disclosure requirements,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Eliminating overlapping requirements, which are related to, but not the same as GAAP, IFRS, or other Commission disclosure requirements,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Deleting outdated requirements which have become obsolete as a result of the passage of time or changes in the regulatory, business, or technological environment, and<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Updating and superseding requirements which are inconsistent with recent legislation, more recently updated Commission disclosure requirements, or more recently updated GAAP.<\/p>\n<p>You can read the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/rules\/final\/2018\/33-10532.pdf\">final rule<\/a>\u00a0and find the related <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/news\/press-release\/2018-156\">press release here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We will post more about the details of some of the changes soon.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, your thoughts and comments are always welcome!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On August 17, 2018, the SEC approved a 314-page Final Ruleto implement many parts of their disclosure effectiveness and simplification initiatives.\u00a0 Included in the many changes made by the rule are updates to: Regulation S-X Regulation S-K The instructions to the Forms The changes focus on: Removing redundant and duplicative requirements that are substantially similar &hellip;
